Finish for the next strokes

Realistic keeps the model's shading and only swaps the colour. Each finish sticks to the strokes you paint with it — switching here only changes what you paint next.

Background & edges

Stay inside edges stops the brush spilling past the model. Raise sensitivity if paint leaks past the edge, lower it if the brush won't reach the edge. Greyscale photo drains the colour from an already-painted model so it reads as bare/primed — then your paint shows true on top.

Snap to tone (3D brush)

Snap to tone makes the brush flow across the surface you press down on and stop at hard edges, so painting one plate won't spill onto the part beside it. Raise sensitivity to flow across bigger shading jumps (covers more), lower it to stop at fainter edges (stays tighter).

Shortcuts: B brush · F fill · E erase · M move · ⌘/Ctrl+Z undo. Hold middle mouse to drag the model around.
